Any Folder that is not already set as a content aggregation may have additional metadata added to it in HydroShare. When this is done, the folder becomes a File Set content type or formally a File Set aggregation. This is any folder containing content that should be logically grouped together to which metadata is attached
Metadata is displayed in the metadata panel.
File set metadata may include
- Extended metadata (key and value pairs)
- Temporal and spatial coverage
When a File Set aggregation is downloaded zipped two additional files are also included filename_meta.xml and filename_resmap.xml. These hold the content type metadata.
Three related files have been added to a resource and placed in a folder
Conversion of this Folder to a File Set is by right clicking and selecting Add metadata.
This now appears in HydroShare as File Set, a folder specific metadata.
In the panel on the right you may add metadata specific to the folder, such as Title, Keywords and Coverage Information.
At the resource level, keywords added at the folder level are propagated up to the resource level, and Set Spatial coverage from content files, propagates the file level spatial coverage up to the resource.
