This tutorial describes how to upload any data type or model to HydroShare. Data and models that are uploaded to HydroShare become a “resource.” Before uploading data to HydroShare, it is important to organize the data effectively.
Organize the data before uploading
Most data and model efforts generate multiple files and often have complexity that require forethought toward how you package and organize the files. Consider how potential end-users will want to interact with the content and what structure will best facilitate access, interpretation, and reuse. For instance, for a single research effort with 50 different data files that are the same format, you may want to separate these data files based on types of data that were collected/analyzed and/or potentially parse the data by date ranges.

HydroShare uses the term “resource” to describe the data and their associated metadata as one single unit of digital content. Other websites may use the terms, “package”, “item”, “data” as synonymous to resource. The most common resource type is the composite resource which provides the ability to group together multiple files of different types in one resource. Read about the composite resource here.
